Want to help but just don't know where to begin?

Whether you are able to give an hour of service every week, just a few random day time hours here and there, or are only available for one time only evening events, your contribution of time is appreciated and NEEDED!

Below are the current volunteer opportunities for ALPS:

• Alpha Angels- to provide assistance and support to our Alpha teachers OR central office GT administrators. Alpha Angels will provide special treats from ALPS for birthdays, holidays and Teacher Appreciation Week and may perform a variety of duties as needed by GT teachers. Duties may include copying, filing, errands, organizing and preparing pus. Alpha Angels can choose one of the following options:
  • Assisting the K-2 teachers (specify Lisa Crates or Lisa Sutton)
  • Assisting the elementary cluster campus teachers (specify the cluster you want to represent)
  • Assisting the middle school Alpha teachers (specify the campus you would like to represent)
  • Assisting the two Alpha administrators Karen Green (secondary)
• General Volunteer - be available for miscellaneous and as-needed duties such as copying, assembling mail-out packets, creating documents, website design or updates, purchasing supplies, etc.
• Duke Talent Identification Program Honors Night - Help in coordinating the event or working for the event.
• Fundraising Helpers - Generate fundraising ideas, assist with taking spirit wear orders and delivery, attend and assist at fund raising events.
• Communication Helpers - Research information and write articles for the ALPS Newsletter, and make copies for meetings as needed.
• Volunteer Helpers - Assist Volunteer Coordinator in maintaining communication with volunteers, sign up volunteers at general meetings, and other duties as needed.
• Membership Helpers - Assist with signing up new members at general meetings and events, update database as needed.
